The Geographic Face of the Nation--Elevation
-- This national land cover map represents a mosaic of 48 individual state datasets. It was derived from the early to mid-1990s Landsat Thematic Mapper satellite data provided by the National Land Cover Dataset (NLCD). It is a combination of data from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Forest Service, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The collaboration of these federal agencies was to generate a relatively current, consistent, seamless, and accurate land cover data set for the conterminous United States.  Use this map to teach and learn about physical geography of the USA.  Full Resolution digital data (individual states) may be downloaded for free at our National Land Cover Web site! Map scale is 1:4,000,000 and measures 56" x 36".
